Synopsis
The legendary demon Ashmadai had been bound by the Archangels Uriel and Raphael and condemned to spend an eternity trapped in stone, immobilized, powerless and enraged. Centuries pass, and Ashmadai hears and sees nothing in his stone prison. He feels nothing but burning pain and desire to get out and get even…
Because Ashmadai feeds on guilt, fury, lust and hatred, one bloody night of racism and murder in a small Indiana town in the 1950’s wakes the demon and precipitates his eventual rise to power, as foretold in an ancient Prophecy. The town is destroyed by a tremendous eruption of energy – the beginning of Ashmadai’s ascension, brought forth by unimaginable hatred and bloodlust, and only one survives as witness to Ashmadai’s awakening.
More than 50 years later, Ashmadai has been feeding on the sins of those around him, and he is ready to rise to power once again and transform the world into a vast wasteland where adults engage in sordid acts of violence against one another and worship him as the King of lust, violence, destruction and hate.
He tricks Matthew, a weak, guilt and grief-ridden mental patient, into becoming his bridge to the physical world, and keeps him bound to a cross and savaged, both mentally and physically, in the astral plane in order to draw power from his torment. Meanwhile, he takes over Matthew’s body in the physical realm and goes on a spree of murder, lust and torture on a path to his ultimate plan: possession and eventual destruction of the Catholic Church and its transformation into a tool that would change this modern world into Ashmadai’s dominion.
What Ashmadai does not know is that the Archangel Uriel put a plan in motion on the night of the demon’s awakening that would fulfill the conditions of the ancient Prophecy that foretold Ashmadai’s rise and will destroy the demon once and for all. Ashmadai cannot be killed by angel or human alone. It will take an angel and human working in concert to destroy him. It would take the One.
But who is the One? Is it Marcus Shell, a Catholic priest who lost his faith? Is it Sarah, an ancient woman and the original survivor of the blast that destroyed a small Indiana town in the 1950s? Or is it a weathered Marine veteran, who committed unimaginable atrocities in Vietnam and turned to God for salvation? As Ashmadai burns a trail of destruction en route to his ultimate goal of domination, angels and mortals unite in their quest to stop him from tearing their world apart.
